Almost one year ago, our offer was accepted for our dream home nestled in Rocheport, MO. Population 220, a quaint historic town along the Missouri River and Katy Trail.. It’s truly a magical place.
The house is an 1885 Victorian fixer-upper. And with Gabe’s preservation experience and craftwork talents, this project is perfect for us.
So far we’ve made great progress—repaired necessary structural floor joists, winterized the crawlspace, re-plastered and finished the bedroom, repainted the entire exterior, not to mention landscaping the large yard and clearing out a very over-grown garden to use this year!
But as you know, this kind of work is never done. The renovation plans project years into the future and we’re excited about that.
Our next goals are to re-plaster the remaining walls and ceilings: living room, office and dining room. Re-imagine the bathroom. Replace and relocate the HVAC. Restructure and add a shade solution to the back deck. We also hope to fix up the shabby chicken coop and plant a number of fruit trees/shrubs this year if we can! The long-term dream to to be able to add access and create a master suite in the attic, which could nearly double to sq. footage of the whole house!
We could go on… We’re even thinking of turning this website into a house and life update blog after the wedding. A documentation journal of our highlights and progress (and probably recipes).
All this to say, we would be incredibly grateful for any contribution if you felt so inclined. Any extra time and money we have will be happily going into this place anyway!
